Lecture Title: Permanent Works in an Impermanent Time

Description:

Cameron Cartiere will address how many of our commissioning processes in North America are producing a public art industry that is often struggling against itself. This keynote will examine a series of questions including how might the processes and general orientation of Public Art in municipal programs be problematic to artistic quality; if our habits of process and “best practices” are actually complicit in suppressing creativity; and whether there are radical steps that could transform the field – particularly within the commissioning of “permanent” works.
